What is Vedic Astrology ?
Vedic Astrology, or Jyotish, is the ancient astrology that comes from India.
In Vedic Astrology, we look at the planetary configurations at the moment of a person’s birth. From this, we can predict qualities of that person and of that person’s life. We also have the means to see cycles throughout the life that have different qualities, allowing for considerable predictive ability.
An understanding of your chart will help you understand the trends and influences in your life. Jyotish provides a vision of areas in life that are strong and areas that may be difficult or troublesome. It provides insight into the cycles and time periods in your life. If there are problems, remedial measures can be suggested based on the chart.
Some of the specific topics that can be addressed include marriage, children, business, travel, health, happiness, family, accidents, problems, good fortune, spirituality, and enlightenment, and timing and life trends.
Ideally Jyotish is a tool to help us better understand ourselves, to be aware of our strengths and weaknesses, to have insight as to what we can work on to improve ourselves, and ultimately to grow toward fulfilling our higher potentials.
Vedic Astrology, if anything, teaches us that we have a destiny, that we are interconnected to the universe and the cosmos, that we are part of a whole system that lives and breathes together.
I have been fascinated by Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) since I first learned of it as a teenager, and have studied and practiced it off and on over the last 30 years. I hold Level 1 and Level 2 Certifications in Vedic Astrology from the American Academy of Vedic Art and Science.
What to Expect in a Vedic Astrology Reading
When I do a reading of a Vedic Astrology chart, I am looking at the story of that person, and the influences that are active during their lifetime. We will look at qualities of the individual, both external and internal (they are different influences in the chart), and also particular influences and trends that are occurring now. I may suggest practices or remedies that could help to bring improvement to difficulties. One thing to keep in mind is that I will always look for the light. Even if things are difficult and feel heavy, I will never tell someone “you have a horrible chart and your life is just really going to be bad.” I believe there is always something to be done to help, to uplift, and to bring light, and if needed I will work to find suggestions for those things based on the chart.
Most of my readings are done over the phone or in person, and you are welcome to ask questions while we are talking.
Prior to any reading I will have you send me your time, place, and date of birth, and it is important that the birth time be from a recorded source like a birth certificate. If you are not sure about your birth time, please reach out to me before scheduling an appointment.
